10 Unusual Plants That Will Make You Look Twice

Why trees and what is their meaning to me? The great carpenter George Nakashima says in his book The ѕoᴜɩ of a Tree: ‘When I am there, feeling at ease with the trees and the space around me, it is easy to feel the trees with ѕoᴜɩ. A tree sits like an avatar, an embodiment of the motionless table, far beyond the country of ma.

 

Sometimes, when I am next to them, I feel the trees with ѕoᴜɩ. Some trees speak more clearly than others. When I am a Westerner, a Swede, I discovered that there are many Scots (Upper, Swedes). They are special trees that usually hide deer in the forests of small rocky outcrops. Here are a couple of images of one of my favorites sitting ‘like an avatar’ in his own space.

I have visited this particular tree often in the aυtυmп. At dusk, the light immerses itself in the forest, trapping the branches in a kaleidoscope of broken fragments. Here it is turned into a dark arc: scattering the forest floor. I invite you to stay under it.

But it’s easier to photograph when the sky is cloudy or just after the sun has set. That’s where you get the images to help cover his character. There are some contrasts to distract the eye and he becomes a giant being with his arms high above you.

Or, and this last image is my favorite, he is inviting you to pass between the old exposed tree stumps while he waits, poised, poised, almost expectant, for you to come before him.
