Russell Wilson’s debut with the Pittsburgh Steelers will have to wait after the nine-time Pro Bowler, who signed with the Steelers after being cut loose by the Denver Broncos, was ruled out of the season opener Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons because of a calf injury.
Despite that announcement, Wilson was still ready to go.
Another newcomer to the Steelers, Justin Fields, ended up playing in the entire game.
The 35-year-old Wilson earned the starting job during the preseason, only to aggravate a calf injury in practice.
The QB still warmed up before the game in full uniform.
After heading back into the locker room, Russell Wilson was on the sidelines still in full uniform, even though he had no chance to play.
