Graphic footage of the tailgate shooting incident that occurred after last Sunday’s Detroit Lions game has surfaced online following the two resulting deaths.

Reports of one person losing his life and another being critically injured began spreading after the Lions’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The second person ultimately succumbed to his injuries, taking the number of casualties to two.

A recording shows several people arguing before a man wearing a black T-Shirt and black jeans brandishes a firearm, which he appears to cock before walking towards another man in red shorts. The second man pulls out his own gun and fires one shot.

According to police, the bullet passed through two people, causing their deaths.

The Shooter Won’t Face Any Criminal Charges Following The Loss Of Two Lives At The Detroit Lions Tailgate Party

The shooter was initially arrested, with police responding quickly after the firearm was discharged. However, it has since been announced that he will not face any criminal charges because he was defending himself and is a licensed carrier.

“We have reviewed this case thoroughly,” Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement this week, “and this is a case of lawful self-defense. It is absolutely tragic that during all the fun and merrymaking at a Lions tailgate that, two lives were lost. The first was Mr. Welch, who was the one who first pulled out a gun and was shot by the 40-year-old, a lawful CPL holder, who was defending himself. A single shot was fired.

The people in charge of Eastern Market, where the shooting took place, have canceled plans for the next tailgate — originally scheduled for the Lions’ next home game on September 30 — as a show of respect to the families of the deceased.

Tailgating will resume when the team hosts the Tennessee Titans on October 27.
