Brittany & Patrick Mahomes went to watch Lionel Messi play at Arrowhead Stadium

Soccer superstar Lionel Messi arrived at Arrowhead Stadium in preparation for tonight’s highly anticipated match between Inter Miami and Sporting Kansas City.

The matchup has drawn widespread attention, especially given the presence of Patrick Mahomes, NFL legend and part-owner of Sporting KC, at his home stadium.

The clash is set to take place at GHA Arrowhead Stadium, where Messi’s Inter Miami will face off against a powerhouse Sporting Kansas City side.

More than 72,000 fans are expected to attend, potentially setting a record for the largest crowd ever at a Missouri football game. The current attendance record stands at 52,424, set in 2010 when Sporting KC defeated Manchester United in an exhibition match. Since Messi’s arrival in MLS, the highest attendance recorded was 71,635 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, though Messi did not play in that game.Patrick Mahomes welcomes Lionel Messi with an affectionate hug in the Sporting KC vs Inter Miami match | Marca

For tonight’s match, Inter Miami will debut their black “La Noche” jerseys for the first time this season, a uniform Messi has donned only a few times, including last season’s finale and twice before in this campaign.

While all eyes will be on Messi, speculation is rife about the presence of other high-profile sports celebrities. Patrick Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl MVP and majority owner of Sporting KC, is confirmed to be in attendance, further raising the excitement levels. However, there is no confirmation whether pop sensation Taylor Swift, who was spotted at Kansas City Chiefs games last season, or Chiefs star Travis Kelce, will attend. Kelce recently appeared on his brother Jason’s podcast “New Heights” earlier this week, leaving fans wondering if he will make an appearance alongside Swift.

The match promises to be a historic moment for both soccer and Kansas City sports fans as Messi continues to captivate North American audiences. With Sporting KC looking to solidify their standing, it’s a rare and electric atmosphere at Arrowhead Stadium — one usually reserved for Super Bowl champions but now set to be shared with a global soccer icon.
