Whoopi Goldberg Tells Chiefs Fans Blaming Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce’s Struggles to ‘Shut Up’ During ‘The View’ Discussion

Whoopi Goldberg is shaking off Kansas City Chiefs fans criticizing Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce’s performance.

On the Sept. 24 episode of The View, the daytime TV host and actress brought up the topic of Chiefs fans “accusing” the 34-year-old pop star of taking Kelce’s “mind off the game” after his recent performance, prompting the hosts of the show to defend Swift.

“[The fans] apparently forgot that [the Chiefs] won the Super Bowl last year, and [Swift and Kelce] were just as tight then as they are now. What is going on?,” Goldberg, 68, asked her fellow hosts.

Alyssa Farah Griffin noted that the Chiefs have “won” all “three” games they have played so far. Meanwhile, Sunny Hostin pointed out that Swift “wasn’t even at the [recent] game,” jokingly adding, “Is she supposed to play the game, too?”

Griffin, 35, said that she believed fans were unjustly placing the blame on the “Fortnight” singer — especially as the Chiefs continue to pick up wins on the road back to the Super Bowl.

“As I understand it, football is a team sport. Just because he’s not making touchdowns doesn’t mean he’s not contributing to the success of the team,” she said. “They’re currently undefeated this season. Once again, just the classic blaming a woman for a man.”

She went on to note that people were “acting” like the Grammy winner “is a Magic 8 ball or a monkey foot” when it comes to how Kelce, 34, performs in games.

“She’s very powerful, but…. she can’t magically affect his game,” Griffin added. “The thing I do love about this relationship and why I root for it, [is] they support each other.”

Goldberg chimed in to say that she “blamed” the “MAGA crowd” for being the most vocal about Swift affecting Kelce’s game “because they are mad that she is not supporting you-know-who,” referencing the Cats star’s recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump.

“Grow up, y’all,” Goldberg told the audience at home. “Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well. Shut up!”

This comes as the Chiefs tight end has been recently scrutinized for not getting as many touches in during week 3 — something which Kelce’s teammate and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes even weighed in on.

“It’s crazy because the respect factor teams have for Travis is unreal, and it’s well-deserved,” Mahomes, 29, told the media. “We’re calling a lot of plays for Travis and it’s like two or three [defenders] are going to him.

Mahomes continued, “I’m going to do my best to keep feeding him the ball whenever he’s there, whenever he’s open. I think the more Rashee [Rice] makes plays, the more we’re able to run the football, the more we can get [Xavier] Worthy involved, I think that’s going to open Travis up more. People are really emphasizing taking him away and that’s getting other guys open.”
