NFC Heavyweight Lands New York Jets Superstar Pass Rusher Haason Reddick In Blockbuster Trade Proposal That Would Make Them Super Bowl Favorites

A blockbuster trade proposal has the New York Jets sending star edge rusher Haason Reddick to a top NFC team in a move that would make them the new Super Bowl 59 front-runners.

The Jets acquired Haason Reddick in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason in exchange for a 2026 conditional third-round pick. Reddick, in his contract year, is still holding out in hopes of receiving an extension.

With no resolution in sight, the Jets may have to move Reddick before the Nov. 5 trade deadline. It’s not the ideal scenario for a team in win-now mode, but it’s better than losing Reddick for nothing in 2025 free agency.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox recently proposed a blockbuster trade idea that would see the Jets send Haason Reddick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos and a conditional 2025 fourth-round draft pick:

“In this hypothetical scenario, the 49ers swap Gross-Matos for Reddick while sending the Jets a conditional 2025 fourth-round pick. That selection could become a third-round pick—the 49ers have two of them, one compensatory—if, say, Reddick reaches 10 sacks and helps San Francisco reach the NFC title game.

That’s a more than fair offer, especially considering a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2026 third-round pick should hold similar trade value. The Jets would also get a defender who can contribute now and who is under contract through 2025.”

The 49ers have one of football’s premier pass rushers in Nick Bosa and arguably the league’s best linebacker in Fred Warner. But star defensive tackle Javon Hargrave is likely out for the year with a torn triceps, and free agent signing Leonard Floyd hasn’t made much of an impact thus far.

So Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers could definitely use another game-changing pass rusher like Haason Reddick. They struggled to generate pressure on Patrick Mahomes in last season’s Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but a player like Reddick could be the final piece needed to help the 49ers climb the mountaintop.

Haason Reddick Deserves To Get Paid

Reddick was largely unproductive over his first three NFL seasons, but the 2017 first-round pick finally broke out in 2020 with a 12.5-sack season. He has posted double-digit sacks in four straight years, including a career-high 16 in the 2022 season.

So it’s no wonder that Reddick wants to get paid what he deserves. He outplayed the $45 million deal that he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, and his time to really cash in his long overdue.
