Travis Kelce humorously reacts to Patrick Mahomes’ joke about his age

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s dynamic chemistry is as strong off the field as it is on. During an event on March 22nd, Mahomes, 28, jokingly took a playful jab at Kelce, 34, referring to him as one of the oldest athletes on the Kansas City Chiefs roster.

While expressing excitement about the team’s latest addition, wide receiver Hollywood Brown, Mahomes couldn’t resist the opportunity to tease his star tight end.

“I’ve been impressed by how hungry Hollywood’s been. You can tell he wants to win and be part of something special,” Mahomes said at the 101 Awards in Missouri. Then, with a smirk, he added, “We still have a young team—other than Travis.”

The good-natured shade didn’t stop there, as Mahomes went on to highlight the importance of building a winning culture, especially with younger players eager to leave their mark.

“If we can continue to build this with people who are hungry and want to win, we can keep this thing going,” Mahomes stated.Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Jokes About Travis Kelce's Age | Us Weekly

Although Kelce is one of the oldest players on the Chiefs’ roster, he is far from alone in the 30-plus club. Other seasoned veterans include long snapper James Winchester, offensive lineman Joe Thuney, defensive back Deon Bush, and defensive tackle Mike Pennel. Kelce, who will turn 35 in October, has been a critical part of the team’s success alongside Mahomes since 2017.

The pair’s partnership has been instrumental in the Chiefs winning three Super Bowl titles, including victories over the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, and another win over the 49ers in overtime this year. Their tight bond has extended beyond the gridiron, with the duo frequently spotted golfing, attending Lakers games, and supporting each other’s families and personal endeavors.

Mahomes and Kelce recently took their friendship to the next level by embarking on a new business venture together. On March 14th, it was announced that the two are teaming up with Noble 33, a global hospitality group, to open a modern steakhouse in Kansas City. The new establishment, named “1587 Prime,” pays homage to their jersey numbers—Mahomes’ 15 and Kelce’s 87.

“Travis and I have become frequent visitors of Noble 33 restaurants in other cities, so it only made sense to bring something special to our own community in Kansas City,” Mahomes said in a press release about their new restaurant.

Kelce echoed his quarterback’s excitement, adding, “We’re excited to be a part of this journey with Noble 33 to create a one-of-a-kind dining experience, and what better place to start than our home.”

As the Chiefs continue their pursuit of more championships, fans can expect to see Mahomes and Kelce not only leading on the field but also making an impact off the field with ventures that highlight their bond and love for Kansas City.
