VIDEO: Cameras Caught Bears WR DJ Moore Giving Up & Hanging His Rookie QB Caleb Williams Out To Dry On What Should Have Been An Easy Bears TD

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore inexplicably gave up on a play that should have been an easy touchdown during Sunday’s home game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Late in the second quarter, Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams threw a pass to a wide-open DJ Moore, who had an easy touchdown in front of him. For whatever reason, Moore stopped running and the pass fell incomplete:

The Bears had to settle for a Cairo Santos field goal to increase their lead to four instead of potentially going up eight. And if that whole saga wasn’t weird enough, Moore was seen sitting by himself on the bench and was the last Chicago player to head into the locker room at halftime:

Coming off a career year in 2023, DJ Moore signed a massive four-year contract extension worth $110 million in July. Though Williams has been inconsistent to begin his NFL career, Moore has produced well over Chicago’s first three games with 19 receptions for 167 yards.

Moore finally caught his first touchdown of the season in the third quarter, hauling in a nine-yard pass from Williams to put Chicago up eight points. So at least he somewhat redeemed himself?

After hosting the Rams, DJ Moore and the Bears will stay in Windy City and prepare for the visiting Carolina Panthers in a Week 5 clash. Given Andy Dalton’s struggles against the Cincinnati Bengals today, there’s a possibility that we’ll get the first Bryce Young vs. Caleb Williams showdown.

DJ Moore & Caleb Williams Will Only Get Better Together

Williams’ performance in the NFL has been mostly underwhelming thus far. But as all-time greats like Peyton Manning, Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman and John Elway showed, you can’t judge a quarterback entirely off his rookie year.

Over time, Moore and Williams will get even better as a pass-catching combo. Moore’s early frustrations are understandable, but patience is a virtue when it comes to working with a rookie QB.
