The Dallas Cowboys‘ offense is in desperate need of a spark, and have spent the first four weeks of the season in search of a consistent second option in the passing game behind CeeDee Lamb. Trading for Davante Adams would check both of those boxes.

Adams requested a trade, and reports have surfaced that the Raiders are open to dealing the star wide receiver. As the Cowboys flounder, dropping Adams into quarterback Dak Prescott’s supporting cast could ignite Dallas’ offense.

What Might a Dallas Cowboys Davante Adams Trade Look Like?

While there is likely to be a robust market, Bleacher Report NFL analyst Krisopher Knox put together a list of potential Adams blockbuster trades, including one that sends the 31-year-old receiver to Dallas.

Here’s the deal Knox suggests:

“In this hypothetical scenario,” Knox writes for B/R. “The threshold for flipping a conditional second-round pick into a first might be high. Dallas has shown that it can get to the playoffs. Winning multiple postseason games is now the goal—making an appearance in the NFC title game a sensible condition for the first-round pivot.

To sweeten the deal, Dallas could include third-string quarterback Trey Lance.

Beyond the Cowboys’ immediate need for a playmaker on offense, there are a few other pieces in place that could make Dallas a frontrunner in the Adams’ sweepstakes.

After all, the Cowboys have committed to Dak Prescott as the quarterback of the present and the future, making Lance a valuable trade chip to acquire a weapon such as Adams to add to Prescott’s supporting cast.

Lance could potentially be the Raiders’ quarterback of the future, and Las Vegas would have the better part of over half a season to give him the chance to audition for the role after making a deal like this.

Likewise, there is familiarity between Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and Adams from their time together with the Green Bay Packers.

Acquiring a big-play threat such as Adams would elevate the Cowboys’ passing game by pairing him opposite Lamb and potentially turn the tide for an offense that has been a bit rudderless through the first month of a season that began with Super Bowl aspirations.
