RUMOR: Surprise AFC Team Could Pull Off Blockbuster Trade For Seahawks Superstar WR DK Metcalf In The Offseason

DK Metcalf of Seattle Seahawks looking on.

A rebuilding AFC team has been floated as a potential landing spot for Seattle Seahawks superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf.

The 26-year-old DK Metcalf was briefly mentioned in trade rumors leading up to Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, but the Seahawks are keeping their franchise player for at least one more run at the postseason.

But if the Seahawks miss out on the playoffs for the third time in four years, GM John Schneider could very well decide to shop Metcalf. As we saw with Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas, the Seahawks certainly aren’t afraid to move on from a player who’s still in his prime.

Bleacher Report recently proposed a trade idea that has Seattle sending DK Metcalf to the New England Patriots, noting that they would have a true No. 1 receiver for rookie quarterback Drake Maye.

The Patriots haven’t had a 1,000-yard receiver since 2019, when Julian Edelman hit the feat in the final year of the Tom Brady era. Tight end Hunter Henry currently leads the Pats in receiving with 39 receptions for 414 yards.

They have a consistent 1,000-yard rushing threat in Rhamondre Stevenson, and Maye already looks like a budding star. So if Metcalf hits the trade block, the Pats should definitely explore a trade for the two-time Pro Bowler.

Seahawks Would Get A Nice Haul For DK Metcalf

Since Metcalf is still in his prime and a borderline top-10 wide receiver in football, he could very well fetch the Seahawks a first-round pick in a potential trade. A rebuilding team like New England wouldn’t give up that much, but Seattle would get at least one day-two pick (possibly even three) at the very least.

It’s been three years since Metcalf last had a true superstar QB (Russell Wilson) throwing to him. Metcalf is a true game-changing star, and he would unquestionably fill New England’s need for a WR1 receiver.
