Halle Bailey and DDG Announce Heartfelt Split: ‘The Best Path Forward for Both of Us’
In a candid statement shared on his Instagram Stories on Thursday, October 3, DDG, 26, revealed the news of their breakup. “Dear friends and supporters,” he began, “after much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. The decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us.”
He expressed gratitude for their time together, stating, “I cherish the moments we’ve spent together and the love we shared.”
Despite the changes in their relationship, DDG emphasized that their bond remains strong: “Our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other.”

The couple, who sparked romance rumors in January 2022, celebrated the arrival of their son Halo in late 2023.
In his statement, DDG highlighted their commitment to co-parenting, saying that he and the Little Mermaid star, 24, will “focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents.” He expressed appreciation for “the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”
As they move forward, DDG requested “understanding and support” from fans as they “navigate this transition.”

“Thank you for your love and encouragement — DDG,” he concluded.
In August 2022, shortly after going public with their romance, Bailey said she was “for sure” in love with the “I’m Geekin” rapper.
“I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them,” she said in Essence’s September/October 2022 cover story. “He was one of them.”
She continued, “I completely forgot about him. But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me — and the rest is history.”
