Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum was heckled by New York Knicks superfan Spike Lee, who was feeling the playoff atmosphere on Sunday. The Aces lost their WNBA semifinal playoff series opener 87-77 at the New York Liberty.

Plum finished with 24 points and four assists, but that wasn’t enough to stop the Liberty. New York’s Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart combined for 55 points to capture Game 1.

During one moment, Lee was fired up from watching the game from courtside that he talked trash to the All-Star guard. Following the game, Plum was asked about the words said to her by the famed filmmaker.

“I can’t say what exactly what was said, but I told him that he should talk louder,” Plum said. “But it was all well and fun. It’s real cool that he’s here. Even last year, it was really cool that he was here. I know he’s a big sports fan, and that says a lot that he’s in the building and that he respects the game. I was just having fun.”

The man behind the hit movie “He Got Game” even got up from his seat to talk louder to the three-time All-Star.

Plum’s performance in the 2024 WNBA playoffs’ opening round was lackluster. She put up 15.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists. The star guard only made 20% of her 3-pointers, which took a toll on her overall performance.

The Aces are focused on finishing the 2024 season with another title win. Their goal this season is to make history as the second WNBA team to record a three-peat. However, New York is determined to stop that from happening and avenge their 2023 WNBA Finals loss to Las Vegas.

Kelsey Plum thinks the entire Aces team hasn’t clicked

Ahead of their Game 1 bout against the Liberty, Kelsey Plum opened up about the critical concern that the Aces have. Although Plum feels that there are still a lot of things that need to be improved, she and her squad are committed to making it to the WNBA Finals for the third time in a row.

“I think we have found our kind of our stride, and to be honest I don’t still feel like we’ve had a game where we’ve all been clicking on all fours,” Plum said (Timestamp: 2:35). “I think it’s been maybe a couple people here or there, maybe it’s been the bench – maybe it’s been – and maybe a couple other people.”

Kelsey Plum believes the team needs to be on the same page on offense and defense throughout an entire game if they want to make it back to the finals. Game 2 will be on Monday at the Barclays Center.
