Insider notes on NFL Trade Deadline: Steelers monitoring 3 WRs, Chiefs, 49ers entering buyers market and more

Four veteran receivers have all found new homes in the NFL after being traded. The names include Amari Cooper, Davante Adams, DeAndre Hopkins and Diontae Johnson. Yet with so many teams needing a wideout, more expect to be moved before the trading deadline next Tuesday.

Here is the latest word inside the league.

Pittsburgh Steelers’ NFL Trade Deadline plans

I’ve twice mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers as a team in the market to trade for a receiver, as they were one of the franchises keying on Davante Adams before the former Raiders wideout was moved to the New York Jets.

Now sources have attached the names of three receivers the team will look to trade for. They include Darius Slayton of the New York Giants, Mike Williams of the New York Jets and Courtland Sutton of the Denver Broncos.

Two receivers drawing the most interest ahead of NFL trade deadline

Earlier this week, I mentioned the possibility of Slayton being on the trading block in an article. Ironically that was just before the Giants lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. Slayton had four receptions for 108 yards in that contest.

Sutton was another receiver I mentioned in that same article that could be on the move before the trading deadline. I am told the Steelers have a lot of interest in the Broncos wideout, but it’s a matter of the team meeting Denver’s asking price, which I’m told is high.

Williams could be the contingency plan if the Steelers can’t swing a deal for either Slayton or Sutton. A lot of people don’t feel it’s a great fit, but Pittsburgh wants another pass catcher.

Chiefs, 49ers and Browns’ NFL Trade Deadline plans

I continue to hear the Kansas City Chiefs will look to bring in a cornerback before the deadline. Sources also tell me the San Francisco 49ers are in the market for a defensive lineman.

The Cleveland Browns will move defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson is they get any offers. Jefferson signed a one-year deal with the team this offseason, yet it’s not worked out to date. The nine-year veteran has dressed for just five games this season without a single start. Last year with the Jets, Jefferson started 14 games and finished with 34 tackles and six sacks.
