Head coach Andy Reid announced on Saturday that rookie tight end Jared Wiley suffered a season-ending ACL injury in practice this week. The Chiefs plan to elevate Payton Hendershot to replace Wiley for Monday night’s game.
The Chiefs ruled out three more players, CB Nazeeh Johnson (concussion), WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring), and DL Mike Danna (pectoral) for Monday night’s game.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was placed on the injury report Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Because of the location of the injury, it was unclear if Mahomes’s mobility would be hampered against the Buccaneers. The 29-year-old was a full participant in all three practices this week. Per Saturday’s injury report, Mahomes has no designation for Monday night’s game.
With no designation on the injury report, Mahomes’ ankle should be healthy enough for the two-time NFL MVP to protect himself in the pocket against the Buccaneers.
Mahomes will enter Week 9 looking to gain some momentum after a slow start to the season. He’s thrown just eight touchdowns to nine interceptions through the Chiefs’ first seven games.
