Nick Bosa came to his teammate Brock Purdy’s defense amid media criticism as the 49ers won only two games through four matches.

A 6ft boy from Queen Creek, Arizona, Brock Purdy, was drafted 262nd as the last pick in 2022. In the span of two years, He has shed off his draft position as he transitioned into the one of the most formidable quarterbacks of his age.

Brock Purdy has taken his team to the playoffs in two seasons. Starting in for Jimmy Garropolo after his foot injury, Purdy finished the 2022 season with five wins from five starts. He led the San Francisco 49ers‘ Super Bowl run in 2023, recording 12-4 in regular season, leading the league in yards per attempt and passer rating.

One of Purdy’s earliest exceptional performances that thrust him to the big boy leagues was the win over Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022. Facing Tom Brady, Purdy became the first and only quarterback to win a game against Brady on their career start. Recently, speaking on an interview with talkSPORT, Purdy’s teammate Nick Bosa recollected the days and praised Purdy.

Bosa noted that he and the team were lucky to have chosen Brock Purdy, as another team had considered him before dropping out. Bosa said that Purdy revived the San Francisco 49ers after Garoppolo’s injury – playing an exceptional game against the Dolphins and dominating the Buccaneers.

And even myself, when Jimmy went down… I thought our chances were definitely not looking too good. And then he played great that Dolphins game. I’m like, all right, that was good. But then he dominates against Tom Brady and just keeps proving me, the whole team, the whole country, and world wrong. He’s just a very humble kid and he doesn’t let any outside noise get to him. So we got lucky with him for sure.

Bosa expressed his anguish on how many times Purdy has to prove himself. The teammate’s comments come at a time when Purdy has been dissected by NFL analysts, fans and critics, calling out him to be good only because of the team strength.

Brock Purdy and co face the heat at home game against Arizona Cardinals

Brock Purdy and his team will play Kyler Murray’s Arizona Cardinals on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The team without Christian McCaffrey, who’s suffering from bilateral Achilles tendonitis, looks to bounce back from 2-2 after four weeks.

The NFL has forbidden the 49ers from wearing their white uniforms, forcing them to play under extreme heat conditions in Santa Clara. The temperature in the Californian city is expected to be in the high 90s, creating what will be an unpleasant playing condition. The Cardinals will don all-whites while the 49ers will do their throwbacks.
