REPORT: College Football Game Gets Canceled Due To The Brutal Destruction From Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene rips through a city street.

Hurricane Helene is currently a category four storm sweeping through the country’s southeast. Because of this, a major college football game between Liberty and App State had to be canceled to keep everyone safe.

The matchup between the Flames and the Mountaineers was set to kick off on Saturday and is not set to be rescheduled. The game was set to be played at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC, which is one of the most affected areas right now.

“App State’s home football game scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 against Liberty is canceled due to severe impacts to App State, the town of Boone and surrounding areas caused by Hurricane Helene. The game will not be rescheduled,” the program announced.

In terms of safety, this was an extremely smart call, as already 42 people are confirmed to have died from the hurricane.

For each team, though, this is a major disappointment, especially for Liberty, who has started 4-0 and has been making a strong case to be a contender for a College Football Playoffs spot.

Liberty Has A Shot At The College Football Playoffs

The amazing start for Liberty can not be understated, as the team is undefeated through its first four weeks.

The great record has them on pace to be a favorite group of 5 teams to make the playoffs and have a chance to upset a powerful opponent.

They have not played a ranked opponent, and as of now, they still won’t be, but you can’t look past an undefeated team if they can pull it off.
