This 144-year-old wisteria in Japan looks like a pink sky.

These stunning images, which look like a glorious night sky with hints of pink and purple, are actually photographs of the largest wisteria plant (or wisteria, depending on who you ask) in Japan.

This gorgeous plant, located in Ashikaga Flower Park in Japan, is certainly not the largest in the world, but it’s still an impressive 1,990 square meters (or half an acre) and dates back to around 1870 (the largest, at about 4,000 square meters, is the wisteria vine in Sierra Madre, California). Although these plants may look like trees, they are actually flowering vines. Because their vines have the potential to become very heavy, the entire structure of this ancient plant is supported by steel supports, allowing visitors to walk under its canopy and enjoy the pink and violet light cast by its gorgeous flowers.

Now scroll down to check out these stunningly beautiful vines for yourself!
