In late 2023, U.S. News and World Report released its eighth annual Best Countries ranking, based on the “global perceptions” of destinations worldwide regarding several qualitative characteristics. According to the report’s methodology, the 2023 analysis covered the perceptions of 87 nations and surveyed more than 17,000 people, asking them to rate destinations on 73 different attributes. One of those attributes was just how pleasant a country’s climate is perceived to be.
After crunching the numbers, the report ranked Greece as having the most pleasant climate on earth.
It’s a well-known fact that Greece basks in the sun’s glory, with almost every day being sunny. The capital city of Athens and the islands enjoy temperatures in the 80s and 90s, making them a perfect summer destination. In fact, Athens is reported to get more than 300 sunny days a year, a testament to Greece’s cheerful climate.
What sets Greece apart is its year-round mild temperatures, even in the winter months. In January, Athens experiences a comfortable 30 degrees, a far cry from freezing. This is just the beginning of the country’s warm embrace.
