VIDEO: Vanderbilt Made Nick Saban Pay For Insulting Their Fans By Doing Him Dirty On Their Stadium Videoboard After Beating No

The Vanderbilt Commodores cleverly trolled former Alabama head coach Nick Saban after they shocked the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide 40-35 at FirstBank Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Saban’s old team entered this week as the top-ranked team with a perfect 4-0 record, coming off a statement 41-34 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs. But after Saturday’s loss to Vanderbilt, the Crimson Tide are sure to fall in the AP top 25 rankings.

During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” back on Sept. 20, Saban took a shot at Vanderbilt by claiming that the Crimson Tide supporters outnumbered the Commodores’ fans when his team traveled to Nashville:

“But the only place you’re going to play in the SEC that’s not hard to play, Vanderbilt. When you play at Vanderbilt, you have more fans there than they have, and that’s no disrespect to them, it’s the truth. When we played in Nashville, we had more fans, Alabama fans, than what they had Vanderbilt fans.”

Saban coached Alabama from 2007 to 2023 after spending two years as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Saban helped Alabama re-emerge as the nation’s marquee football program, leading them to six national championships.

Nick Saban retired after Alabama lost to the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. Jim Harbaugh and company went on to defeat the Washington Huskies in the national championship.

Alabama Has Shown Wrinkles In Post-Nick Saban Era

After Saban retired, the Crimson Tide made a big-time move by hiring ex-Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer. Needless to say, however, the transition hasn’t been as smooth as some Crimson Tide fans would like.

The Crimson Tide nearly blew a 28-point lead to Georgia last week, so the win over the Bulldogs wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. A week later, Alabama lost to a Vanderbilt squad that had never defeated a top-five AP team.

Alabama will try to rebound when they host South Carolina next Saturday at noon EST.
