Wild Rumor Is Circulating About Davante Adams After Raiders WR Declared OUT vs. Browns, And Some Major Fireworks Could Be On The Way

Davante Adams looks on during a game.

The Las Vegas Raiders will be short-handed when they host the Cleveland Browns at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, with superstar wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive end Maxx Crosby both ruled out for Week 4.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce told reporters on Friday that Davante Adams (hamstring) and Maxx Crosby (ankle) will miss the contest against the 1-2 Browns.

The 31-year-old Adams was a late addition to the injury report on Thursday. Though a player with Adams’ work ethic obviously wouldn’t fake or milk an injury to miss a game, some NFL fans find the timing of it a little too convenient.

More specifically, some NFL fans believe that Davante Adams is actually being rested for the game because a blockbuster trade is brewing:

The future Hall of Famer has been the subject of trade rumors for the better part of the past year now. But Adams hasn’t publicly requested a trade, and the Raiders haven’t at all indicated that they’re shopping their star wideout.

Adams has largely been linked to the New York Jets, where old friend and ex-Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers plays. The Jets are in win-now mode with their 40-year-old signal-caller, so a trade for Adams makes perfect sense.

Through his first three games of 2024, Adams has 18 receptions for 209 yards an one touchdown.

Raiders Should Trade Davante Adams

The Raiders aren’t anywhere close to Super Bowl contention, but they also have too much talent to bottom out and load up on top-five draft picks. That’s why it makes sense to trade Adams while his value is high, allowing them to a) essentially tank for higher draft picks and b) receive valuable draft capital in return.

Adams should be motivated to play for a contender at this phase of his career, too. It only makes sense for Vegas to trade their star weapon before the Nov. 5 trade deadline, instead of waiting until the offseason when his market devalues.
